Sampung Dahilan Kung Bakit Ayaw ko ang Valentines... Amfufu!

Valentine's Day nanaman bukas.... hayyyyy... I don't want to be a cynic pero.... di maiiwasan eh. Tawagan mo nalang pamangkin mong 3 years old at mag finger paint kayo sa oslo paper at lagyan mo ng I love you at pirmahan mo.... tiyak mas makyukyutan pa jowa mo dun. 7."If you love me, prove it to me." To all those celebrating Valentines tomorrow... husbands and wives, boyfriend and girlfriends... I'm wishing you the best. (walang halong ka plastikan) Hope you grow old together and feel the real meaning of true love! PS: Studies show that more people commit suicide during holidays like Christmas, New Year's and Valentines Day.... Thank goodness for my blog!!!!! :P :) Have fun! And Happy Hearts Day to all!!!! Ahahahah... di po ako magpapatiwakal... I love LIFE!!!! :)

An Inspirational Story

I would like to share another story that has touched me. I hope this heartwarming post would serve as an inspiration to everyone out there who believes in the goodness of the human heart.

This from Boston.com 40 years worth of thanks--(Boston Globe) A Mattapan woman finally gets to say thanks to the firefighter who rescued her in 1968. The firefighter crawled on his stomach through the pitch-black apartment, the smoke so thick he couldn't see his hand in front of his face. Somewhere inside was a baby and he had to find her. A window broke, light filled the room, and he saw her lying in her crib, dressed only in a diaper, unconscious. Soot covered her tiny nose. She wasn't breathing and had no pulse. A newspaper photograph captured their image - a white firefighter from South Boston with his lips pressed to the mouth of a black baby from the Roxbury public housing development - at a time when riots sparked by racial tensions were burning down American cities. But despite this most intimate of introductions, they remained strangers. William Carroll won a commendation for the rescue, stayed on the job another 34 years, and retired. Evangeline Harper grew up, lost her family to drugs and illness, had six children of her own, and became a nursing and teaching assistant. And through it all someone would often tell her the story about the day she almost died and the man who would not let it happen. She always wanted to meet him and say thank you. Yesterday, more than 40 years after the fire, she finally did.

The Tagaytay Experience

So much for the Chris Brown-Rihanna brouhaha... I have posted a few months back, November to be exact, about me taking a break at Tagaytay. I forgot all about it back then and failed to write a post about it so here it is. Summer and Valentine's Day is fast approaching so you might want to go to Tagaytay with that special someone or just escape the hustle and bustle of Manila. How to get there: Fastest way is through Santa Rosa to prevent all the traffic at Cavite. This is if you have a private vehicle though. I had the priveledge to hitch a ride with my cousin's friend Alex and we passed by a lot of factories (i wonder of this is the right term) and also saw once again the Coca Cola Bottlers Philippines Plant where my dearest Papa Ding (grandpa) used to work. God Bless his soul. If you are taking the bus, there's this terminal in Cubao at the back of Farmer's Plaza. They have airconditioned buses that travel to Tagaytay every hour. Bus is clean so enjoy the ride. Sorry, I forgot the name of the bus line. But if you ask around that area people would know. I heard a lot of bus stations located around the Manila area as well. When we arrived at Santa Rosa, my friends decided to have lunch there. There are these stalls that serve a lot of grilled foods like pusit (squid), and pork and I saw a whole lot more, just didnt know what it was. Place is quite clean. If you're the type of person who doesn't mind eating at a turo-turo. You'd enjoy this. Price was reasonable. They have all the sawsawan you could imagine so you can pig out on your favorite grilled recipe. One thing good too is, if you order seafood, they cook it right there on the spot. We had a great lunch and vowed to come back again as soon as schedule permits.

Places & Accomodation: On the way to Tagaytay, we also passed by Enchanted Kingdom, so this may be included in your itinerary as well if you're bringing kids with you. As such, we didn't have kids with us and scrapped EK out of our original itinerary. Felt like all I ever did there was sleep! Got there and took pictures of Taal Volcano. Boat rides cost between 1,500 to 1,800 php. Naturally, being the super busy and highly stressed individuals that my friends were, we all decided to check in at Keni Po's and take a rest. Keni Po's is quite affordable. We checked in at the Family Room which costs 2,000 php. It was lovely and had its own kitchen. If you're the type who would rather cook than eat outside. Keni Po is the place for you. Contact number is 046-4830977. Location is at at 110 Calamba Rd., Sungay West, Tagaytay City. They are beside Ina ng Laging Saklolo Church and on the way to Picnic Grove. To see more pictures of their family room, click here.

Keni Po has a website/blog and you might want to check them out. After a very satisfying afternoon nap. Alex and my friends decide where to go next. As I was getting ready it felt like my bed was beckoning me to come back. Sarap kasi matulog! We checked out a Fairytale Castle all the way at Lemery Batangas and it was a site to look at. Non members to Fantasy World has to pay at least 1,000 php to get in. We decided against it coz there were only three of us. I was wishing I brought the kids for this... but on second thought... sarap ng walang inaalagaan kahit one day lang. Probably next time. Just took pictures and bought a lot of espasol from vendors who seemed to have magically appeared as soon as we went out of the car.

After haggling with vendors, we proceeded to Picnic Grove to visit the souvenir shops and just enjoy the view. Never planned on riding the cable car but my friend and I decided we should. The zipline was too much though, felt I couldnt, so we took the cable car instead. It was a good 150-300 feet above the ground. Felt like my insides where going crazy but I felt better after a few minutes. The cable car cost us 200php each for 4 persons, back and forth. Heard it costs so much more though. Ahhh the powers of haggling!
Ate dinner somewhere... couldn't remember where... felt I could sleep like a log.... zzzzzzz. The following morning, we went on a quest to find the best buko pie.... (parang kabute ang buko pie shops sa tagaytay, kung saan saan mo makikita) sampled a few but the best ever was at Amira's. I wont mention the other shop's names but this is the BEST I have ever tasted! Went home with a load of goodies for my Buchitis (my term of endearment for the kids), well rested and ready to take on another wrestling match with them.
